Hill McGlynn Manchester hosted its inaugural Regional Five a side Tournament on Saturday 8th April. Hosted just a couple of miles down the road from the Manchester office, both Technical & Trades teams were hoping to take home advantage. With a total of 24 businesses confirmed it was sure to be an interesting day of football, and with companies such as Carillion, Laing, AMEC & Birse confirmed, to name just a few the competition was sure to be tough.
The event played host to nearly 200 people, with teams entered into four groups, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the knock out stages. Both the Technical & trades teams were unfortunate to fall at the first hurdle, which left both teams to ponder what might have been in the bar!!
The final was contested between AE Yates and Lovells, a close final saw AE Yates just edge it and lift the trophy. The day was a massive success everyone involved has a fantastic time, it was certainly eventful 6 red cards, 1 black eye, a few dead legs and a few bruised egos!!
The feedback was so positive on the day, and the excellent press we have received at site level we are hoping to arrange another one in August which promises to be bigger and better, just enough time to get back in training.
