Morrison Facilities Services win £53m of contracts
Construction news site cnplus.co.uk has today reported that repair and maintenance giant - Morrison Facilities Services has been granted seven new contracts in 2010 worth over £50m. Such a big win is expected to generate much needed maintenance jobs across the UK.
Morrison's primary business sector is the repair and maintenance of social housing and look after over 400,000 properties throughout the country.
These wins mean that Morrison's has generated over £400m from new contracts since April 2009. Contracts include a £10m five year project with Warrington Borough Council to repair and provide building maintenance to 225 of the council's public facilities. The Warrington contract and a Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive are set to join the host of other North Western projects that Morrison's holds in its portfolio.
As well as in the North East and Midlands regions, Morrison's have extended their remit to the South East of England -where it is now the biggest repairs and maintenance supplier after being granted contracts with the likes of Rosebery Housing Association Limited in the affluent county of Surrey.
The Rosebery contract is reported to be worth upwards of £13m, including repairs and maintenance to the company's 2,415 strong property register.
Chief executive at Morrison Facilities Services, Guy Wakeley, commented on the new contracts, saying: ''We are now well on target to deliver a record performance this year, with 21 new contracts and five extensions secured since April 2009''.
Wakeley continued, adding: ''Our bid pipeline remains very strong and I hope to be able to announce further wins before the end of this financial year''.
