Willmott Dixon sign £20m contract with Circle Anglia
Willmott Dixon has secured two housing projects worth more than £20m with Circle Anglia. The schemes, which are both in London, will create more than 200 new homes between them.
The largest is a contract for Bell Green worth £16.4m which will see the company design and build 156 apartments and commercial space, in Sydenham, Lewisham.
The construction, which will be complete by July 2012, will include 85 homes for social rent and 71 which will be for shared ownership. The scheme is part of redevelopment programme on a former gas work site owned by Bell Green and the project will see new homes and businesses built on the site, which will provide a much needed boost to employment in the local area.
The second scheme in Deptford, London is worth £6 million. The project, which is expected to be complete by next August, will see the building of 38 flats which will be made available for affordable rent. The site is adjacent to a new £13m development of 89 flats and commercial units which is already being being built for Circle Anglia.
The announcement of the contracts will be welcomed by those working in construction recruitment, as both projects will provide a welcome boost to the number of construction and building jobs in the area.
According to the Construction Enquirer, Willmott Dixon are also working with Circle Anglia to renovate the Mardyke estate in Rainham, replacing blocks of flats built during the 1960s with new accommodation and recreational space. The new development will be known as Orchard Village.
